      Wisconsin-born African-American artist, Gerald Duane Coleman, a Milwaukee ethno/ cultural illustrator and African-diaspora traveler, is currently available for speaking and workshops. Mr. Coleman’s presentations are suitable for: cross-cultural studies, students of theater arts, Africanists, colleges, museums, social groups, clubs, conferences, sororities & fraternities, art organizations, churches, costume designers, haute coutures, theology students, mythologists, people who love to travel, students of anthropology, storytellers, writers, painters, poets, musicians, Afro-centric gatherings, Black History Month functions, Educators In-Services/ Group In-Services, and all cultural occasions.

    Gerald has won numerous awards for his art commissions, and he has exhibited locally and nationally.  Many of his works can be found in both private and public collections. His participation in art activities range from events in his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin  ( including the Lakefront Arts Festival, the Community Festival of Arts and Milwaukee’s Marcus Performing Arts Center), to South-America, the Caribbean, and West Africa. Significant past speaking engagements include presentations at: the Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee public Schools, the ( new ) Milwaukee Art Museum Calatrava auditorium ( Mardi Gras & Masquerades in New Orleans), Elvehjem Museum of Art—Madison, Wisconsin ( Beads, Body, and Soul: Art and Light in the Yoruba Universe), UWM-Milwaukee sociocultural dept. Fort Lewis college, Durango, Colorado    

 Mr. Coleman is a past recipient of the BLACK EXCELLENCE AWARD, jointly sponsored by Warner Cable, TV-6 WITI of Milwaukee, and Norwest Banks of Wisconsin. Recent activities include conducting a workshop for Elvehjem Museum of Art: Beading for adults & children -- 2000.”  In conjunction with the exhibit “ Beads, Body, and Soul: Art and Light in the Yoruba Universe.        

Mr.Coleman has traveled widely throughout: the United States, Caribbean, West-Africa, and South-America.  Through the use of his original slides, videos, visual art, and  storytelling; Mr. Coleman’s multimedia presentations--- introduce, motivate, inspire, and stimulate positive interest in African and African-American culture, history, art, and the trans-African experience.
